Sunshine Cruz revealed that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called myasthenia gravis, an illness that targets her muscles. This comes after she exuded fierceness in the recently concluded Bench Body of Work fashion show.

In an Instagram post, the actress shared how the disease affected her preparation for the said event.

“It’s been a real roller coaster these past months. I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease called myasthenia gravis which has made building muscle a real struggle. But I’m so thankful for the strength I’ve found,” she said.

As defined by Mayo Clinic, myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune condition that “causes muscles under your voluntary control to feel weak and get tired quickly.”

Common to women aged 40 and above and men older than 60, this disease has no cure, but treatments help address its symptoms, according to Mayo Clinic.

Clad in a red two-piece swimsuit, Sunshine flaunted her sexiness as she walked the runway with confidence and ease, not showing signs of weakness.

“Walking for Bench was a powerful reminder of what’s possible even when things are tough,” she wrote.

Now at 47, Sunshine also dedicated her post to her fellow mothers and Generation X members.

“To all my fellow moms and Gen Xers, never give up on your dreams,” she appealed.

The actress expressed her gratitude to her fitness coach, Iya Ruff, who prepared her for the event.

In a separate Instagram post, the fitness trainer shared a clip of Sunshine’s ramp walk.

“Temperature rising. Our hard work paid off,” she said in the caption.

Sunshine also thanked Ben Chan, the owner of the clothing brand Bench who organized the star-studded show.

“Thank you Sir @bcbench for making mine a reality. I’m so honored to be part of the Bench family. The show was incredible. Everyone was amazing!,” she expressed.

In December 2024, Sunshine’s partner Atong Ang confirmed their relationship after a video of them kissing in a public cockpit circulated online.
