Angel Locsin initially auditioned for ABS-CBN’s Star Circle batches but was not selected. She later joined GMA-7 and became part of the youth-oriented show Click. In 2004, she gained prominence as Alwina in Mulawin alongside Richard Gutierrez. The following year, she took on the iconic role of Darna, further solidifying her status in the industry.

However, in 2007, her relationship with GMA-7 became uncertain. On August 11, 2007, she officially signed with ABS-CBN.

Following her transfer, Angel starred in notable television dramas, including Lobo, The Legal Wife, and The General’s Daughter. She also appeared in various films and television projects.

Angel’s transition to ABS-CBN was met with discussions regarding her departure from GMA-7. Reports emerged about her decision to turn down the MariMar remake, which was later given to Marian Rivera. Around the same time, her contract with GMA Artist Center expired, leading to speculations about her potential move.

On July 17, 2007, it was confirmed that Angel had become a freelancer, and by July 20, she was set to officially transfer to ABS-CBN. After returning from London, she signed a two-year contract with the network and began work on Lobo with Piolo Pascual.
